New Student Orientation | Doctoral Students

Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 5:30 PM until 7:00 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

We are excited to welcome you to Montclair State University as a new doctoral student!  Please plan to join us for a virtual orientation to get acquainted with life as a doctoral graduate student at MSU.

This session will include an introduction to The Graduate School staff, important academic policies and procedures, a review of helpful campus resources and an overview of the doctoral “lifecycle”.  We will also discuss the Orientation "course" in Canvas that you will be invited to join, which will include even more resources, including presentations from the Office of Financial Aid and The Writing Center, that you can review at your own pace.

The session will last approximately 90 minutes including a live question and answer session with staff from The Graduate School.  Please note that orientation is designed for those who have enrolled in at least one class for the fall semester.  If you have not yet registered for classes for the fall semester, please do so as soon as possible via NEST.

In addition, we encourage you to attend any program specific orientation sessions that your academic department or Doctoral Program Director (DPD) may offer.

If you have decided not to enroll in courses this fall and wish to postpone* your admission to a future term, please click here to update your Decision Reply Form in your New Student portal.

*Please note that not all programs allow postponement.  If you are unsure, please contact The Graduate School at gradschool@montclair.edu for more information.

If you have decided not to attend MSU, please click here to update your Decision Reply Form accordingly.

We look forward to personally welcoming you to Montclair State University!
